We want you to know about our treatment approach and how it pushes back from three philosophical approaches to treatment.
1. First, we do not embrace the disease model of addiction.
- We understand there are real physical aspects and predisposing factors to addiction, however, we do not view addiction as a disease. We believe addiction is a “sin nature” problem and must be approached as a spiritual problem of the heart.
2. Next, we push back from the recovery model of treatment which embraces the concept of a lifelong recovery process “once an addict always an addict”.
- We prefer the transformation model (Romans 12:2). Allowing the transforming work of the gospel to work in the heart of the addicted or substance abusing individual.
3. Finally, since they largely embrace the first two errors, we are not fans of the traditional 12 Step Rehab models used in modern rehabilitation programs and centers. The efficacy of that approach to treatment is largely unsuccessful in long term outcomes and ultimate freedom from the bondage of addiction.
- We prefer a discipleship model of treatment, which does acknowledge the most important aspect of the traditional rehab – supportive community. We encourage a combination of one-on-one and community centered relationships. These discipleship relationships are centered on learning, accountability, and supportive care for the individual.
